Noisepunk

Newish band from the former guitarist of the Bacillus Brains and Exclaim (from whence the drummer also came), with bass and vocals from the awesomely alliterative Nagasaki Nightmare (of Nervs and Breakfast) and produced by the Less Than TV guy.

This is furious noise-ridden, hardcore punk. Recommended.

(sample lyrics: 'from the asylum, find him, kill him, drag him out, kill him, kill'--not that they're trying to sound thugged-out, more 'smash the rotten system and hang the capitalist running dogs from lampposts' sort of stuff)

Brutal Extractor

Dominating hardcore noise: Death Dust Extractor play brutal punk beneath a monstrous bass-loaded wall of distortion; More or less like a crustgrind band being sucked through a giant vacuum cleaner of death.

2005 mini album from Bacteria. Hate All opens with pounding, monotonal hc/noise/industrial, but the last two tracks are a combined 20 minutes of spacey, drawn out, quasi-industrial post-rock. Good stuff. Get their stuff here.

Land of the Rising Noise : Volumes I - III

3 compilations of Japanese noise and experimental rock from Charnel Records, released in '93, '97, and '99 respectively.

The main common denominator here is weirdness of one sort or another, with tempo, volume, instrumental selection and mood varying pretty widely.
There are probably some things on here you recognize and some you don't, and some things you'll like and some you won't (all of which is more or less the whole point of comps as far as I'm concerned).

Gomidama : Nuclear Noise Of Confusion

Gomidama is an interesting proposition: Heavy sludge/psychonauts Garadama perform five of their songs live alongside noise artist Pain Jerk. I was already a fan of Garadama's sneering madman vocals and sludgy psych groove, but the addition of another layer of hums, hisses and buzzes fill out the sound into a satisfyingly massive wall of fuzz.

Anyway, forget my boring description here's the blurb from their site:

This album is recording a battle of super heavy psychedelic band and super-high-speed noise master. A lump of the sound changed into a nucleus at a battlefield and confused them

1988 release. More weird rock, less noise this time around. The Boredoms reappear and K.K. Null shows up again, this time as part of Zeni Geva, his noise/rock project. Leningrad Blues Machine offers up an interesting chunk of psychedelic distortion, Junk Schizo brings some sludgy noise-rock, and Gerogerigegege &　Off Mask 00 fail miserably in combating unfair stereotypes of Japan perversion.

1986 release. This was a compilation of experimental Japanese rock and noise put out on German label Dossier. The ubiquitous K.K. Null makes an appearance with a noise track, and the Boredoms perform as a duo while Ruins do their whacky, also 2-man thing. The other artists are less familiar, but the first three give you an idea of the ballpark they're in.

A slow-moving, layered wall of noise accompanied by echoing screams, somewhere this side of (.)dot & suchlike. Here are three untitled tracks taken from an untitled (split)CDR. These guys will soon release a full-length, which I look forward to checking out.


ZENOCIDE



These three tracks come from a split with Eternal Elysium which I have upped elsewhere. The thing is, the two bands play rather different music, and I imagine many people who would not enjoy Elysiums brand of long-haired dope-smoking sabbath worship, or who avoid anything that whiffs of stinky hippies, might nonetheless find a place in their hearts for Of The Spacistor's noise rock/hardcore/new wave hybrid. This band has been around for quite a while, and are apparently still active, but these songs constitute everything they've released, which saddens me, as these three tracks are good. The bassline on 'Daily Wall' is just fucking awesome.

This band is pretty fucking great. Now broken up, though their singer's myspace promises new projects.

Big distorted power-chords, raw vocals, pounding intensity, and evil keyboards in the background combine to create a big driving wall of noise.
