DHR released (but nonetheless slow) german 'rap'/noisy electronics from '99. Weird fractured rhythms and odd FX (and surprisingly anticipatory of later grime stuff). Grew on me:

The bastard children of Steel Mammoth (who are in turn the get of Circle), these four bands contain more or less the same members as far as I can tell--they're credited by different pseudonyms on each release--and the sound is in line with Steel Mammoth's (if a bit heavier & more actually metal): loose, deconstructed, hypnotic; weird homages/satires that end up sounding more like each other than whatever genre they're taking off.

A classic 1983 example of the NWOFHM (but not really)

All this NWOFHM stuff is very much to taste, and I can imagine some people hating it, but I find it generally charming, with some really interesting musical stuff hidden under the affections and silliness.

Finnish Genius

The heart of the New Wave Of Finnish Heavy Metal (also see Pharaoh Overlord & the superb Steel Mammoth), Circle sound different on every release of theirs I've heard. On this one blown-out electronics hum and ambient blips segue into glitch-shot, raging 80s-ish (check the bleak apocalyptic cover) hardcore punk and then back again over the course of 11 tracks; as always, Circle's take on a genre is weird and very enjoyable.

Steel Mammoth : Atomic Barbarians

This is a band that knows what mission statements are all about:

A lonesome engine cries, howling in the cruel crüel night! Nuclear nightmare, atomic style! Shadow barbarians with lazer eyes, radiation village, the black fire burning bright! Steel Mammoth brings you the sound of the post nuclear holocaust future with no hope!

Hypnotic and surprisingly soft, desert-tinged rock from Finland; contains members of Pharaoh Overlord.

Selfish : Burning Sensation

Japanese burning spirits style crutsty hardcore from the land of the Finns. Not quite as good as their more recent release 'cause pain', this nonetheless kicks ass.

High speed hardcore of the Scandinavian style: the bass is way out front and driving, while the vocals are crusty and rough but still catchy. I got this cd from my brother-in-law who told me they were a Swedish band, but the song titles are almost all in what looks to be Finnish to me (which　I don't speak at all- but there's no way those track titles are indo-eurpoean.)
