Clown are one of the better hardcore acts to come out of Japan in recent years: grimy, violent, and angry. Case in point: this furious ditty- 'Empty Truth' (from Livestock World)
The three Clown songs on this split, while not quite up to the level of their excellent full-length, still definitely do the business.
Musically perhaps more metallic than their later stuff, alienation, substance abuse and violent rage against the society provide the lyrical themes (and what else is there, really?).
Soul Alley bring some punk/hc which is melodic, but gruff enough so you don't feel like any less of a man for wanting to sing along.
